Why Laser Engraving?

When considering which type of surface marking application is right for your business or personal needs, there are several factors that come into play.  You may have considered CNC routing or sandblasting options.  Each of these are helpful for different results that you might be trying to achieve.  Some of the benefits of laser applications include:

  • Accurate- Laser marking effortlessly achieves tolerances of .001″ (1/1000th of an inch)
  • Detailed- we have been so impressed with the level of detail of this CO2 laser engraving system that we used the word in our company name!
  • Cost Effective- As with any application that requires specialized equipment to complete materials processing, costs can be a consideration.  Laser engraving applications can be tailored to specific processes by creating custom fixtures that allow for batch processing, reducing turnaround times and keeping costs per item in acceptable ranges.
  • Versatile- with unparalleled technological advancement in many of today’s industries, lasers have limitless applications in creating higher quality products and less waste using more environmentally friendly processes.
  • The ‘Cool’ Factor- Face it, lasers are just ‘cool.’  How much more exciting is it to tell a friend that you had your wallet laser engraved than by more traditional methods?

While CNC Routers can create wonderful 3D effects, they can usually only accomplish tolerances of .06″ (or 1/16 inch) due to the brittle nature of small routing bits.  They are great for some wood applications, but if you’re looking for more precise tolerances in your finished items, a laser application is probably the best method for you.

Sandblasting is wonderful for creating frosted images on certain types of materials, but is messy, time consuming, and expensive. It also is not suitable for extremely delicate materials that laser engraving might process with no difficulty.

Additional Laser Engraving Considerations

Laser Optics Accessories

Laser shops that purchase additional optics for their laser engraving systems can offer greater flexibility and superior results on many types of laserable materials.  Some optics sets allow the laser system to produce greater detail, while some reduce engraving time due to a larger laser beam size.  We use these multiple optics to achieve optimal results from your materials.

Rotary engraving capabilities (marking of cylindrical objects)

Some laser engraving systems feature technologically advanced accessories and attachments.  Laser shops that provide rotary engraving services have extra abilities regarding laser etching and laser marking cylindrical objects.  They are able to create a variety of unique items that have laser engraving stretched around the circumference of the object.  Rotary engraving services allow for the production of high value engraved objects including but not limited to:

  • Beer Accessories (Bottles, Glasses and Mugs)
  • Wine Accessories (Bottles, Glasses and Flutes)
  • Personalized Gifts (Fully engraved)
  • Unique Groomsmen Gifts
  • Bridesmaid Gifts
  • Personalized Wedding Gifts
  • Unique Home Decor
